English is a strange language and we absolutely love it for its versatality. The Wikipedia definition of English says that English is a West Germanic language that originated from Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to Britain in the mid-5th to 7th centuries AD by Germanic settlers from what is now northwest Germany, west Denmark and the Netherlands. But the most beautiful aspect of the language is that it is flexible, all-encompassing and has taken up inputs and words and emotions from the different languages and dialect all over the world. Just like its western influences, English has a lot to thank to our very Indian and ancient language – Sanskrit. As per the recent list from Wikipedia, almost 150 words in English language are of Sanskrit origin. Some of the words have become so English that it is hard to believe they are of Sanskrit origin.
